Full description

Dressed as a doctor, a medical kit hanging from his side, Christ stands before a woman prone on the ground. Labeled “Sick Soul,” she raises a cup to gather the blood flowing from the wound in his side. A veiled woman holding a crucifix, who assists her, is identified as the personification of Faith. With his left hand, Christ holds a large cross entwined with a serpent. With his right hand, he displays a heart emblazoned with symbols of the seven deadly sins. Hovering at upper left is the orb of the world. Scenes from the Ministry of Christ, interspersed with symbols of his virtues, appear in the wide frame enclosing the central allegory.
